Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity

Our charity challenge in 2013 was for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Our aim was to raise £100,000 to support the ‘Raising the Roof Appeal’ in order to fully fund an interview room in Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital’s new Neurosciences Centre.

Over the next two years we persevered to achieve this within each office, from Exeter to Inverness, hosting a fundraising event. This involved a variety of activities including

  • Kayaking down the Thames
  • Cycling across each bridge in London
  • Walking 190 miles of the Coast to Coast Walk
  • Numerous marathons
  • Raffles
  • Bacon butty Fridays
  • Auctions
  • Cricket matches
  • Bake sales
  • Quiz nights

The pinnacle of the challenge was the launch of our celebrity charity cookbook ‘Food with Heart’, with the cover design kindly donated by celebrated artist David Hockney. We were delighted to feature recipes from the likes of 52 celebrities including the Prime Minister, Joanna Lumley, Lord Coe and numerous world famous chefs. The book was a resounding success and helped us to not only achieve our target, but double it, with an incredible £200,000 raised!

A real highlight for us was taking GOSH patients Louis, Amelie and Jamie to visit Number 10 Downing Street to deliver a very special copy of Food with Heart which is now hanging up in the Prime Minister’s official residence.
