Retail Agency - Press release

Legal & General, advised by Strutt & Parker, has secured both Puma and Apple at its Midsummer Place Shopping Centre in Milton Keynes. The lettings are the latest in a succession of aspirational retailers attracted to the centre over the past 12 months. The stores will only be Puma’s 3rd and Apple’s 12th in the UK, highlighting Midsummer place Milton Keynes as one of the UK’s leading regional shopping centres.

The lettings to Puma and Apple follow earlier lettings to award winning women’s fashion retailer Coast, UK women’s retailer Hobbs and an upsize of Hugo Boss. Other major retailers include Zara, Top Shop, Gap, H&M, Karen Millen, Mango, Footlocker, Schuh and Bank. The scheme is anchored by Debenhams and totals 418,000 sq ft.

Details of the latest lettings are as follows:

Apple has taken 4,500 sq ft and Puma 3,500sqft, both on 10 year leases at rents reflecting a Zone A rate of £215.

Helen Gordon, Director of the Legal & General Life Fund said:

“The additional of these key tenants to our scheme shows that our strategy for positioning Midsummer Place as a high quality upmarket shopping experience is clearly succeeding.”

Rob Williams of Strutt & Parker’s Retail Agency team comments:

“These new lettings reflect a drive to establish Midsummer Place as an obvious choice for aspirational brands. Traditionally these retailers have not included Milton Keynes on their requirements list. However recent benchmarking against the main Regional Shopping Centres has confirmed that the Milton Keynes catchment has the largest proportion of the high spending 25-44 age group and the highest proportion of socio-economic group AB. These young, affluent shoppers make Midsummer Place an increasingly sought after destination for aspirational retailers.”
