The River Beauly is one of the best Scottish salmon rivers set in particularly attractive highland scenery yet only 12 miles from Inverness. Not only does the river offer delightful surroundings the fishing for salmon and sea trout is challenging and therefore has much appeal for the discerning sportsman and woman.

The river Beauly runs for about 11 miles from the junction of the rivers Farrar and Glass to the Lovat Bridge, into the Beauly Firth just to the east of Beauly.

The river is dammed in two places, but compensation water ensures good water heights even in drought conditions. The season on the Beauly is from 11 February to 15 October.

The principal beats are on the Lower Beauly, which provide over three miles of double bank fly fishing from below the Kilmorack dam to the Lovat Bridge over which the A862 Inverness – Beauly road passes. The water is divided into three five rod beats: Falls, Home and Downie, rotating on a daily basis. This means each tenant fishes each beat twice during the week. There is excellent access by car to each beat, and each has its own comfortably equipped fishing hut and boats. There is a good footpath along the north bank.

Accommodation

Right on the banks of the lower beats of the Beauly river and with a magnificent view of Beaufort Castle, this superb newly-built but traditional fishing lodge sleeps 10 people in 5 luxurious double rooms all with their own bathrooms. There is additional accommodation for 2 live-in staff.

Furnished throughout to the highest standard with antiques and local tartans, the ground floor is a splendidly open-plan dining and living area, perfect for relaxing after a day's fishing or walking.

An open fire adds a warm atmosphere, in addition to full central heating. In warm weather you can enjoy a terrace straight on to the river. Even from your bed not only can you see the waters of the Beauly, but you can almost catch a fish!
