Strutt & Parker announces 6th October as National Open House Day

Following the huge success of the past few years’ events, Strutt & Parker will be holding another national Open House Day this autumn, on 6 October, opening the doors of hundreds of properties across its regional offices.

Offices will showcase a number of homes for sale across the country, with interested parties able to view the houses at any time making the viewing process more informal and fun. The initiative started in 2009 with just one Strutt & Parker office in Kent and this year the property firm will be presenting homes from all its UK regional offices.

Last year's event was a huge success with over 1,200 active buyers taking part on that single day and offers of over £45m being received shortly afterwards on 75 of the properties that took part with more selling subsequently. Participating properties are open to view between 10.30am and 3pm and buyers who have registered can just turn up as and when they wish to look around with no pressure from agents.

Michael Fiddes, Head of Agency at Strutt & Parker explains: "Events like these help to create a buzz that really makes a difference and judging by the past - guarantee results.  People feel less pressure when viewing a property during Open House Day and this atmosphere has led to some amazing offers. Open House Day helps to bring all the right ingredients together culminating in positive results."

For buyers who are living increasingly busy lives, the time saved by seeing as many houses as they like, at their convenience, makes a real difference and can often help clarify what exactly it is they are looking for. But Open House Day is not just useful for house buyers - sellers also find the day beneficial as it creates advertising and promotion opportunities which draw more attention to their property - not to mention the jump in viewings.

Even more of an incentive is the fact that in previous events the relaxed atmosphere means buyers tend to look at properties that they previously had not considered - thinking 'why not?' and a number of these have actually gone on to make an offer.

Fiddes continues: "We have had some incredible stories of people just being 'nosy' and not seriously considering a house, then going on make an offer on it after viewing on Open House Day, if it wasn't for this great initiative they probably would never have even viewed the house."
