Head of Rural AmbitionsBath
What are your key areas of responsibility at Strutt & Parker?
As head of Rural Ambitions, I am privileged to help clients explore and develop new, entrepreneurial opportunities on their farm or estate. I always start by analysing the existing business, using selected financial ratios within the Time To Review tool. This gives an excellent understanding of the starting point from which to build a strategy.
I tend to encourage clients to think about what sort of place they want to create, as this puts the customer in the heart of the decision making process. Rural Placemaking requires us to think of natural landscapes as anchors that draw people in and that we can link with the businesses we create. It’s an extremely powerful process for creating busy, popular places which are perfect environments to start businesses.
I also head up The Vineyard Group, which provides consultancy advice to vineyard owners and wine producers and are the property partner to ‘Wines of Great Britain’. In this role, I help clients identify and purchase land suitable for vines. I also prepare businesses for sale, and provide agency services in collaboration with our Farm & Estate Sales department.
