Autumn House is a superb, detached home, which has been extended and modernised to provide stylish, contemporary accommodation with high quality, bespoke fittings and attractive décor throughout. The extension also benefits from underfloor heating. On the ground floor there is a welcoming reception hall, with space for a seating area, while the main reception room is the large dual aspect sitting room, with its stunning modern fireplace and bi-fold doors, which open to let the outside in. The kitchen and dining area also features bi-fold doors connecting with the garden. The kitchen is a bespoke kitchen designed by the award winning company Extreme Design Ltd. It compromises modern kitchen units, a central island, integrated appliances and a stainless steel range cooker. The ground floor accommodation is completed by a 23ft study/office with fireplace. Upstairs there are six bedrooms, including a generous principal bedroom. The first floor also has the family bathroom and an additional shower room, both of which have chic, contemporary suites.

Outside

To the front of the property there is an area of lawn and a block-paved driveway, providing parking space for several vehicles. The garage provides ample storage and workshop space, while timber gates open onto a paved and gravel area to the side of the house, which could be used for further parking. The house benefits from solar panels. The garden to the rear has an area of paved terracing immediately at the back of the house, a well-maintained lawn, a rockery and a further small area of patio to the side, as well as established border hedgerow.

Situation

The village of Midgham is set in a rural location close to the popular Berkshire towns of Thatcham and Newbury. There is a local pub in Midgham, while the neighbouring village of Woolhampton has a local shop, a pub and a primary school, as well as the independent Elstree School. The nearby village of Aldermaston Wharf provides further everyday amenities, including local shops. Thatcham and Newbury offer a good selection of amenities and leisure facilities, plus an excellent choice of schools, including the outstanding-rated Kennet School in Thatcham and the independent Cedars School, Alder Bridge School and Cheam School. The area is well connected by road, with the A339 and A4 providing access towards the M3 and M4, while rail services are available from Midgham station, a mile and three quarters away (1hr 7 mins direct to London Paddington, 57 mins via Reading).

Directions

From Strutt & Parker’s Newbury office, head up The Broadway and at the roundabout, take the first exit onto Oxford Street. At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto Oxford Road and then at the next roundabout, take the third exit onto the A4/Western Avenue, following the sign for Thatcham. Filter onto the A339 and then keep left to turn back onto the A4/London Road. Continue to follow the A4 through Thatcham, and stay on the A4 for approximately five miles, before turning left immediately after the Coach and Horses pub, onto Church Hill. After half a mile, turn left onto Birds Lane, and you will find the property on your right-hand side, just after the turning for Goddard Drive.
