The house is in need of significant modernisation but provides an exceptional opportunity for a purchaser to create a family home in a secluded yet accessible location. It has accommodation arranged over ground and first floors which extends to some 1,701 square feet.
The front door opens into a hall, off which is a bathroom and a large sitting room, with a fireplace and dual aspect windows. There is a substantial kitchen, off which is the back hall/utility room, the master bedroom, which has an en suite shower room, and a snug/4th bedroom. The first floor has two large bedrooms, under a combed ceiling.
Outside, the property has off-street parking and a garden that overlooks the open fields to the south.
Blinkbonny Farmhouse is situated in the small hamlet of Blinkbonny, nestled under the Pentland Hills, to the south of Currie. The house occupies a semi-rural setting but is still only some 7 miles from Edinburgh city centre.
Nearby Currie and Juniper Green are highly regarded residental areas which are well served by public transport, including a railway station at Currie. There are good local shops, including Sainsbury's Local, a Post Office and other independent stores. More comprehensive shopping is catered for at the nearby Gyle Centre.
The Water of Leith is close by and provides bicycle rides and walks directly to the city or west out of town. The Pentland Hills Regional Park is an exceptional area for hill walking, mountain biking, riding or trout fishing on a number of its reservoirs. There are a number of golf courses locally, including Ratho and Dalmahoy. Currie has a well-established rugby club.
The Edinburgh City Bypass, Baberton Junction, is approximately 2.5 miles away, providing links to the central Scotland motorway network and the southbound A1. Edinburgh International Airport is about 7 miles distant.
From Edinburgh, take the A70, Lanark Road, west out of town. Cross the City Bypass and continue heading west on the A70, passing through Juniper Green. At the first set of traffic lights, bear left onto Blinkbonny Road. Follow this road down the hill, across the Water of Leith, and up the hill on the south side of the river, into the hamlet of Blinkbonny. The entrance to Blinkbonny farmhouse is on the left, immediately after the steading development.Read all
