An impressive Listed town house
Leven House is an impressive Grade II Listed property with a stunning façade dating from the early 19th century. Semi-detached, the property is built of Cotswold stone under a stone roof with distinctive sash windows. The house is full of charm and traditional features but would benefit from some updating and modernisation. The front door opens into an entrance hall with stairs to the first floor and a cloakroom. Either side of the hall are the two principal reception rooms both with high ceilings. Off the dining room, is the kitchen/breakfast room which is fully fitted and with a door at one end, which leads to a rear hall and the utility room. From the entrance hall stairs rise to the first floor where there are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom which is situated on the half landing. The staircase continues to the second floor and bedroom three as well as excellent attic storage with potential for further accommodation subject to obtaining the necessary planning consents.
Leven House is approached off Bow Lane between stone pillars, which lead to a gravelled parking area from where a gravelled track leads to the double garage. Either side of the track are areas of lawn and a paved terraced area suitable for al fresco dining.
Leven House is located in Bow Lane, off the High Street of Bourton-on-the-Water, which is celebrated as one of the most attractive villages in the Cotswolds, and lies in the charming Windrush Valley, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village offers a wide range of everyday shopping facilities, a number of popular pubs and restaurants. More extensive facilities can be found nearby in Cheltenham and Cirencester. Communications in the area are good. The A429 (Fosse Way) provides links to the A40 and M40 as well as the M5 at Cheltenham. There are regular train services to London Paddington from Kingham Station (8 miles). Education in the area is excellent with well-reputed primary and secondary schools both state and private.
From Stow-on-the-Wold proceed along the Fosse Way (A429) towards Cirencester and take the third turning left to Bourton-on-the-Water (unsigned) towards the High Street. Drive into the village and at the Cotswold Restaurant, turn right over the bridge and then take the left fork and Leven House is on your right.Read all
