Corrie House is approached through an arched, external porch which leads into the hall. This has a WC with a shower off it, together with a guest bedroom (Jura), which has lovely views over the garden and a wet room. The sitting room/dining room is open plan and has the most wonderful views over the islands. The sitting room has a wood burning stove and the dining room has double doors which lead into a study and further double doors which lead to the decked area. The kitchen is exceptional. It has an excellent range of wall and floor units which incorporate a stainless steel sink, a Hotpoint microwave, coffee machine, a large gas range cooker, with 2 ovens and a 6 ring hob, 2 dish washers drawers, a large island unit with breakfast bar, sink and plenty of drawer space. There is space for 2 double fridge freezers. Off the kitchen is a back hall/utility room and a laundry room adjacent. From the kitchen, a spiral staircase leads to the master bedroom. This has wonderful views, a dressing area, a door to a balcony and a large en suite bathroom, with an oval bath and a large shower cubicle. The first floor guest accommodation is accessed by a spiral staircase from the main hall. Off the landing is a large laundry room and there are two bedrooms; Shuna and Mull. Cookery School Within the grounds of Corrie House is a cookery school. This consists of a timber frame structure which is timber clad in French Limousin. While the accommodation has been used as a cookery school, planning consent (Ref 17/00016/pp) has been granted for alterations, extension and change of use to form a dwelling house, thus giving flexibility of use. The current layout has a large open plan demonstration kitchen/ dining area. Exposed oak beams are a feature and the views from the huge glass windows are spectacular. There is a large island unit and further units down two walls, with a gas range cooker (2 ovens and 6 ring hob), 2 further gas rings and a Belfast sink. There is in addition a prep kitchen, fitted with wall and floor units, a Belfast sink, space for a fridge freezer and a separate wash hand basin. The prep kitchen leads into a shower room and a separate WC. While the kitchen units in the cookery school are included in the sale, should the purchaser not wish to continue running the property as a cookery school, the current owners will remove them prior to completion.

Outbuildings Adjoining the cookery school is a garage block. The single garage is currently used as a workshop and has a useful large store off it.

Outside Corrie House is approached by an in and out tarmac drive. There is a large central parking area for the guest, surrounded by apple trees and an adjacent lawn with magnificent shrub borders. Corrie House occupies a spectacular position over-looking the popular marina of Craobh Haven, a popular destination for west coast sailors. The views from the property are exceptional and include vistas over the islands of Shuna, Luing, Scarba, Mull and Jura. Craobh Haven is situated just off the A816 trunk road, which connects Lochgilphead to the south (17 miles) with Oban to the north (22 miles). There are local amenities associated with the marina, including the Lord of the Isles bar/restaurant and a small village store attached. Kilmelford has a village shop, post office, and a hotel and Ardfern also has a village shop and marina.

Oban is the main ferry port for Argyll and the south western Highlands and Islands of Scotland and it lies 22 miles to the north of Corrie House. As an important centre of commerce, the town provides a wide variety of retailers, wholesalers, professional services, a hospital, secondary school with sports and leisure facilities, and a ferry terminal with daily services to a range of islands including Mull and the Outer Hebrides. In addition, there is a small private airport at Connell, 4 miles north of Oban.

To the south, the villages of Crinan (15 miles) and Lochgilphead (17 miles) provide further services and are popular with tourists including sailors navigating the Crinan canal which connects Loch Fyne (on the east side of the Kintyre peninsula) with the Sound of Jura and the Atlantic Ocean (on the west side). Lochgilphead is the administrative capital of Argyll and location of the main council offices.

Oban has a small airport, with services to Coll, Colonsay, Tiree and Islay. The closest airport is Glasgow (98 miles) which has a good range of both domestic and international flight. Oban has a railway station with regular services and a sleeper service can be taken from Tyndrum to London.

In historical terms, the county of Argyll formed the major part of the kingdom of Dalriada, which is believed to have been settled by gaels from Ireland with its capital at the fort of Dunadd near Lochgilphead. The county is strewn with remnant forts, castles and standing stones from this period.

With its many islands, peninsulas and sea lochs, Argyll has thousands of miles of coastline and, as such, the sea is a feature of the working life and leisure time of its inhabitants. The quality of sailing off the Argyll coast and Inner Hebrides is of world renown. With nearby marinas at and Craobh Haven and Kilmelford, the property is perfectly placed for sailing enthusiasts to explore much of the west coast.

In terms of land based activities, there are several golf courses within an hour’s drive of the property including the Isle of Seil course at Balvicar, the Glencruitten course near Oban and courses at Lochgilphead, Tarbert and Taynuilt. With a large extent of Forestry Commission woodland in the district, there is an almost endless choice of routes for cyclists and mountain bikers. With many islands to explore, mountains to climb, lochs to fish, pubs and restaurants to dine at throughout Argyll, there is a fantastically diverse range of activities within a drive of an hour or so of Corrie House.


From Glasgow, take the A82 north, along Loch Lomond to Tarbet. From Tarbet, take the A83 to Lochgilphead, passing through Arrochar and Inveraray en route. From Lochgilphead, take the A816 north towards Oban and after about 16 miles, turn left, signed for Craobh Haven. Follow this single track road for about 1 mile, to the split in the road, where you should pick up signs to Corrie House. Take the left turn, follow the road for about 300 m, turn right, pass two houses and Corrie House is the next entrance on the right.
