Heydour is an extremely pretty hamlet and civil parish located in the South Kesteven district of south Lincolnshire. It is part of a collection of hamlets located within a mile of each other, the others being Culverthorpe, Oasby and Aisby. The three villages coordinate in many events and functions such as the annual art exhibition and fete and scarecrow competition. There is a group of Mummers, musicians and Morris dancers and an annual pantomime is held in the village hall in Aisby and the parish church holds a carol service the Sunday prior to Christmas. The Houblon Arms in Oasby is the local public house and restaurant with a good reputation. The nearest post office with a shop is in Wilsford, approximately 2 miles away.
Grantham train station offers an excellent mainline high speed trains to London Kings Cross of a journey time of approximately 1hr 5 minutes.
The large cities of Peterborough, Leicester, Nottingham, Doncaster and Birmingham are also easily accessible by road and rail network.
Heydour is situated in the heart of Belvoir hunting country and has a strong equine community, with the Cottesmore Hunt and Quorn Hunt within easy reach.
The region is well served by schools, with Maidwell Hall, Witham Hall, Spratton and Stoneygate offering preparatory education. The grammar schools of Leicester Grammar, The King's School in Grantham and Kesteven Grantham Girls School and the renowned public schools of Uppingham, Oakham and Oundle are all also within reach.
From Grantham: Depart on the B1174 (London Road) for approximately half a miles, then bear left onto the A52 towards Boston / Ancaster (Bridge End Road). Continue along the A52 over two roundabouts, then at the next crossroads turn left signposted Ancaster. After almost a mile turn right onto Mill Lane and then continue into the village of Heydour. The School House can be found to the right of the church as you head down the hill.
