A beautifully presented and historic town house in the heart of Wallingford.

Flint Cottage is a charming period house believed to date from the 16th Century and is steeped in history. It is thought that it once belonged to John Norreys, a court favourite of both King Henry VIII and Queen Mary Tudor whose brother Henry, had been accused of having an improper affair with Ann Boleyn. As one would expect of such an historic property it is full of charm and has many period features including exposed beams, open fireplaces and of particular note, the flint covered front facade. The current owners have updated the interior to showcase the period features whilst meeting modern standards, with very stylish decor and fittings throughout. The accommodation is flexible, and has the advantage of suiting a number of different configurations and uses. On the ground floor there are two welcoming reception rooms, with wooden flooring and a wood burning stove installed to the sitting room/study. This room also benefits from French doors opening onto the rear gardens. The spacious and spectacular kitchen/dining room has a slate tiled floor, cream-coloured storage units and wooden worktops, freestanding Rangemaster 6 burner gas/electric range, and Bosch integrated dishwasher, fridge and separate freezer. The ground floor also benefits from a useful laundry room and shower room. To the uppper two floors there are three double bedrooms, two of which are found on the first floor, with the third, larger bedroom, which may be used as an office/studio, on the second floor. There is also a useful study, which could be a fourth bedroom if required. The master bedroom has a very large and stylish en suite bathroom and dressing room, while there is also a family bathroom, and on the second floor, a shower room.

Outside

The property opens to the front onto the pictureque Wallingford High Street, while to the rear of the property there is a splendid walled garden. The garden is lined with cobbled terracing and well-presented flowerbeds, a water feature and a variety of shrubs. Flint Cottage looks out on to The Kinecroft which is an historic area of open grassland that provides an excellent outdoor space and home for events such as Bunkfest, the Festival of Cycling, the Classic Car Rally and Bonfire Night. Additionally the property is ideally located for Bull Croft Park which is to the rear of the house and offers tennis courts for hire, has a jogging track and two separate play areas for children (one fenced for toddlers).

Situation

The property is set in a central position in the historic Thames-side market town of Wallingford. Wallingford has a full range of everyday amenities and services including a large Waitrose, hospital, a doctor’s surgery and a dentist, independent and high-street shops and several good restaurants, cafés and pubs.
