A unique and spacious architect-designed home set in its own grounds in a coastal village
With a host of architectural features, Scyld offers almost 2,700 sq. ft. of flexible Scandinavian-style accommodation arranged over three floors. On the ground floor, the welcoming reception hall leads to a spacious triple aspect, open plan sitting room with feature fireplace. Two sets of patio doors provide access to the terrace and the extensive gardens.
A well-proportioned dining room, adjoins the sitting room. This room has patio doors to the gardens and can also be accessed from the hall. To the left of the hallway is the stunning Sylvarna kitchen with granite worktop and a range of fitted units and integrated oven and hob. Adjacent is the breakfast room with wood burning stove and patio doors to the gardens.
The remaining downstairs rooms are currently used as a study and library. The kitchen, utility and breakfast rooms have quarry tile flooring; the remainder of the downstairs flooring is maple.
The first floor offers a spacious rear aspect master bedroom with an en-suite shower room. Patio doors lead to a goodsized balcony. There are two further well-proportioned bedrooms and a family bathroom. There is also a large loft room over the garage, with skylight and power, accessed from this floor.
The second floor comprises three loft rooms suitable for a variety of purposes (STP); one in particular is a striking skylight-lit space.
This property has 2.13 acres of land.
Scyld is accessed via a long drive through the property's own small area of woodland, affording a good deal of privacy. There is a generous forecourt offering parking and turning for a number of vehicles and access to the large garage. Gardens surround the property and are laid mainly to level lawn with a variety of mature shrubs and trees, which are a haven for wildlife. With a large paved terrace, accessible from the sitting room and dining room, the outside is ideal for entertaining.
On the edge of the village, highly regarded Horsemere Green Lane is about 2 miles from the delightfully unspoilt beach of Climping. Climping is home to the Bailiffscourt Country House Hotel, a church, public house and primary school, and is well-known for its pretty country lane winding down to the beach. Yapton, 1.5 miles to the east, offers a general store, postoffice and butcher's as well as church, public house, village hall and doctor's surgery. Nearby Arundel is renowned for its cathedral, castle and attractive Georgian architecture and sits on the river Arun.
Mainline railway stations are either at Arundel or Barnham, both of which offer services to London Victoria and Gatwick.
From the A27 take thr right turn onto Yapton Lane (B2132) and stay on this road for 2.4 miles. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Main Road (B2233) and after 0.8 mile continue onto Yapton Road. After 0.5 mile turn left onto Horsemere Green Lane and Scyld can be found on your right.
