Venn House is a magnificent Grade II* Listed country house, set in a beautiful countryside location close to the historic market town of Tavistock. The property, dating originally from the 17th century, with further work completed in the 19th century, provides almost 7,000 square feet of accommodation and until recently served as a residential care home. There is significant potential to renovate and reinstate into an outstanding family residence.
The property features a highly attractive frontage, with arched windows and a turret tower standing over the immaculate gardens. Inside there is a wealth of ground floor reception rooms with a variety of period features, including one original fireplace, dating from 1635. There is also a kitchen, an office and a utility room with a separate entrance. The current dining room is fitted with an Aga.
Upstairs there are nine generous bedrooms. Five of the bedrooms feature en suite cloakrooms, while three include en suite shower rooms, including the master. One additional bedroom has an en suite bathroom, while there is also a further large family bathroom.
Rights of Way: There is a right over the property for nearby owners. Further information is available from the vendor's agent.
Venn House has large green lawns to the front of the house and a beautiful orchard to the rear of the property. There is a tarmac driveway, which approaches the front and provides access to parking to side of the house. To the rear of the house there is a courtyard area with access to several outbuildings, including a barn and a garage.
The property is located in a beautiful rural location, close to the small rural West Devon village of Lamerton, and two miles from the historic market town of Tavistock. Lamerton has a village primary school and a local pub, while there a number of amenities in Tavistock, including a variety of shops, supermarkets and the ancient Pannier Market, which dates from the year 1105. The A30 is nine miles away, providing access southwest towards Cornwall, and east towards Exeter, while the nearby A386 provides easy access towards Plymouth, the bustling port city, which is 16 miles away.
From Exeter, take the A30 heading towards Okehampton, and continue for almost 25 miles, before taking the A386 slip road towards Tavistock/Plymouth. Continue on the A386 through Tavistock, turn right at the Francis Drake roundabout, then right at the mini roundabout. Take the U turn signposted Launceston, Venn House will then be found on your left after approximately 1.5 miles, before entering Lamerton.Read all
