The property The Old Rectory, is a fine Grade II listed Regency house designed by the famous architect Joseph Bromfield. Built in 1814, the house retains superb architectural detail with well laid out, light filled accommodation with deep sash windows framing the stunning views. The spacious annexe offers comfortable living space for a family member, or as at present, to run as an air bnb/holiday let.

Bromfield designed many of the notable houses in the area including Glansevern Hall and Brynkinalt. The Old Rectory reflects the Italianate style to which he became known with its cast iron verandah to the front, its floor to ceiling bay windows with shutters in both its drawing and sitting rooms along with fine plasterwork to the ceiling of the elegant dining room. All the reception rooms have elegant proportions with impressive fireplaces. These are complimented by a well fitted kitchen/breakfast room, a traditional laundry room, study and home office. The cellar is accessed from the hall and has a barrelled ceiling with wine stores and former dairy.

There are two staircases leading to the first floor, the main one leads to the central landing lit by a ceiling lantern, off which are five double bedrooms, one with an en suite shower room, a separate shower room and a family bathroom. A staircase leads up to the sixth double bedroom. All enjoy glorious views and are well presented along with the whole house which lends itself to both comfortable every day living and larger scale entertaining.

The annexe A wing of the house, known as the Cottage, offers spacious and elegant accommodation which has been run as a successful holiday cottage. It has an entrance hall and a large sitting/dining room with an impressive fireplace housing a wood burning stove. The kitchen is well fitted and has an adjoining utility room and access to a small courtyard for al fresco dining. Upstairs is a recently fitted bathroom, along with two large double bedrooms with views over the valley and hills beyond.

Outside

Outside The house is approached from a driveway through impressive gates. The drive swings round to the front of the house to a gravel sweep bound by lawn and planted with numerous spring flowers, with ample parking and a small garage beyond that is presently used as a workshop/store. To the south and west of the house is a lawned garden with stocked borders and a courtyard area.
