Classic country house set in approx. 5.5 acres in a sought after location

Shepewood House is a classic detached “Arts and Crafts” influenced family house which occupies an excellent position on the rural fringe of this sought after village directly adjacent to farmland and with a southerly aspect from the garden towards the established grounds of Lord Wandsworth College.

The house originates, we understand, from circa 1912 and from its construction to this day has been the residence of the Headmaster to the College and is therefore being offered to the open market for the first time – a truly prestigious opportunity.

Arranged over 3 floors, the house has most striking elevations of a style which we believe are unique in the local area and provides accommodation of exceptional proportions.

There is a light and spacious atmosphere created by the many classic windows and with various architectural features typical of the period. Whilst comfortably appointed there is scope for general updating to enable a buyer to reflect their own style and preferences as the house enters private ownership for the first time.

This property has 5.5 acres of land.

Outside

Approached by a sweeping gated driveway there is an extensive parking area to the front of the house leading to the garage situated in a secondary parking area on the western boundary.

The classically landscaped garden is principally south facing with a large level lawn to the rear beyond a paved terrace, flanked by mature herbaceous borders.

Intersected by mature hedges there are separate areas of the garden with a wide variety of mature specimen trees and shrubs creating an interesting and established setting in a secluded environment.

On the eastern side of the garden is a less formal area approached by a pathway with classic stone piers. Within this area is an interesting brick detached garden room with fireplace and adjoining store.

The adjoining field/potential paddock lies on the eastern side of the principal garden curtilage.

Agents Note:

There is a public footpath between this principal garden curtilage and additional land. This links to a footpath across the northern edge of the grounds and will be included within the Title but separated by fencing.

Situation

Lord Wandsworth College is located about 3 miles south of Odiham in a large private estate of undulating farmland designated as being of particular landscape importance and high agricultural significance. Shepewood House is located away from the main college campus, but adjacent to the grounds.

Long Sutton, about a mile from the property, has an active community, a primary school and All Saints Parish Church. Odiham is the closest village along with Hook and Alton for day to day shopping.

Local and regional communications are very good with access onto the M3 at Junction 5, Hook. The M4 is accessed at Reading Junction 11. Hook and Winchfield stations are accessible for London Waterloo.

Directions

From Odiham proceed to the western end of the High Street turning left at the roundabout towards Alton on the B3349. Continue past RAF Odiham and at the bottom of the hill on the edge of the airfield turn left towards Long Sutton. Continue through the village and proceed beyond the village passing the main Lord Wandsworth entrance on the right where the entrance to Shepewood House will be found after a short distance on the right hand side.
