Mayfield Farmhouse is a handsome detached family home of timber and red brick construction under a black glazed pantile roof. The property principally dates from the Elizabethan period with a Georgian façade and Victorian wings. The house is Grade II Listed as being of architectural and historical importance and is also mentioned in Sir Nikolaus Pevsner’s authoritative guide to The Buildings of England.

The house enjoys well-proportioned family sized accommodation throughout with a particularly spacious living room, an elegant dining room and a large open plan kitchen/breakfast/family room with views over the front garden and countryside and access to the rear private patio courtyard.

The current owners have maintained the property well and have created a wonderful family home whilst also maintaining many of its original period features including sash windows and shutters, ceiling cornicing, inglenook fireplaces, pamment flooring, and exposed internal beams and brickwork. The eastern wing of the house which is currently used as a games room, library and sun room has potential for an annexe subject to the necessary consents.

This property has 1.25 acres of land.

Outside

To the front of the house is a shingle carriage driveway with parking for multiple vehicles and to the rear of the house are a serious of outbuildings including garaging, former stable block and a car port.

The gardens are mature and mainly laid to lawn with shrub and hedge borders. To the south west of the house is a section of lawned garden with an orchard comprising green gage plum trees, eating apples, pear trees and a peach tree all accessed via iron railings.
