The village has a primary school, an excellent gastro pub, The Berkeley Arms, a windmill that has been converted into a tea rooms, craft shops and visitors centre as well as an antiques shop. Within the village is the church of St Peter and a mobile Post Office visits the village twice weekly.

The nearby town of Melton Mowbray, home of the famous Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese. has a good array of evey day amenities and shops and the larger town of Grantham offers excellent shopping facilities, including The George Centre and Grantham indoor market as well as a wide range of independent stores, bars, restaurants and cafés and an array of leisure facilities. Trains to London Kings Cross are regular and take just over the hour.

Directions

From the A606 ring road around Oakham, take the Ashwell Road in a northerly direction. Keep going north through the village of Ashwell and then along the Teigh Road going through the villages of Teigh and Edmondthorpe.

On reaching Wymondham turn left on at the T junction on Main Street. Spring Lane is then the fifth turning on your left. Go down Spring Lane and, after 100m, turn left into a cul de sac and Lion Lodge will be straight ahead of you.
