The Manor is a well-presented double fronted stone-built family house offering more than 3,100 sq ft of stylish accommodation arranged over three floors. It has been sensitively modernised to combine the amenities of modern living with character features including some original wall panelling, exposed beams and fireplaces. From the welcoming reception hall there is access to a spacious dual aspect drawing room with panelled walls, an attractive stone-built open fireplace and window seating. There is also a generous sitting room with a beautiful original fireplace with woodburning stove, and windows with original shutters and window seats. The large kitchen/dining room has a good range of wall and base units including an L-shaped central island and breakfast bar, an Aga, a double Belfast sink and space for a good-sized table. The inner hall leads to a good-sized utility room and cloakroom, and access to the garden terrace.

On the first floor there is a spacious principal bedroom with window seating, built-in storage and a modern en suite bathroom with bath and separate shower. There are four further double bedrooms and a family bathroom on this floor. A second staircase leads up to the top floor where there is an additional double bedroom with modern en suite bathroom.

Outside The property is approached through double wooden gates over a gravelled driveway providing plenty of parking. The well-maintained gardens are mainly laid to lawn bordered by mature shrub and flower beds and interspersed with mature trees and hedges. There is a beautiful avenue of hornbeam trees edged with box balls, and some wonderful mature pleached lime trees. There is a spacious timber-framed summer house which is ideal as a home office or gym. There are also two useful garden sheds. A paved terrace area beside the house looks out across the gardens and is perfect for entertaining and al fresco dining.

Location The pretty village of Uffington sits in the Vale of White Horse, on the edge of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, overlooked by the chalk white horse which was cut into the hillside some 3,000 years ago. The village provides a good range of local amenities including a village store/post office, pub, tennis club and sports ground, as well as Sower Hill Livery, all surrounded by stunning countryside with a wide network of footpaths and bridleways, ideal for walking, cycling and riding. The market towns of Faringdon and Wantage provide a wider range of facilities including independent boutique shops, cafés and restaurants. A more extensive range of facilities can be found in Oxford and Newbury. Communications are excellent with regular direct trains from Swindon or Didcot into London Paddington and the west country, and a good network of roads, linking with the M4 motorway, providing access to major regional centres, Heathrow Airport and London. There is an excellent choice of schools in the area including Uffington primary school in the village, Cothill, Cokethorpe, The Manor Prep, St Hugh's, Radley College, Abingdon and Pinewood.

Directions

From Newbury follow the B4494 north to Wantage and then take the B4507 heading west towards Uffington.
