Situated in a quiet residential road, Sydney House is a handsome property with an unusual bow window. Arranged over four floors, the house offers elegant and generous accommodation within a private walled garden.
Railed steps lead up to the front door with a fanlight over. The door opens into the reception hallway which, in turn, leads to the elegant, high-ceilinged sitting room with a feature wrought iron fireplace, decorative alcoves and storage either side, together with the first of the bright, curved bay windows. The sitting room opens directly into the dining room, offering ample space for entertaining and formal dining.
From the hall, stairs descend to the ground floor directly into the family room. This is a bright room with light flooding into it via French doors. There is a central fireplace with tall bespoke storage cabinets to each side. Beyond - accessed via the French doors - is the courtyard. Adjacent is the good sized kitchen/breakfast room. The focal point is the lovely mellow brick fireplace with room for a range cooker. To either side of the cooker, floor and wall cupboards give ample storage. To one end is the breakfast bar. There still remains plenty of space for a table and chairs for everyday use. Adjacent to the courtyard is a cloakroom and a useful store room.
On the second floor is the sizeable principal bedroom, a bright and tasteful space with wooden floorboards, another D-shaped bay window and a charming fireplace. The adjacent shower room features a convenient and modern walk-in shower. The substantial bathroom has wide sash windows overlooking the garden, views of which can be enjoyed whilst soaking in the freestanding bathtub!
The top floor comprises three further bedrooms benefitting from far-reaching views, one having the third of the fine arched bay windows and built-in wardrobes. A double bedroom to the rear overlooks the garden.
The garden is a haven of peace and tranquillity. Steps up from the private courtyard lead onto a pretty paved area with profusely stocked rose and herbaceous beds and plenty of space for dining al fresco on the sunny patio.
A pathway winds through to a summer house, whilst wide shrub beds and mature trees provide shade and surround the level lawned area.
Alongside the rear gravelled space is a raised decked area with a good sized garden shed; the tall brick-built wall provides an appealing backdrop. The property has a garage in a block opposite the house.
Walmer offers a superb range of shops and amenities and there are several well-regarded state and independent schools. Sydney House is enviably situated a short distance from the beautiful pebble beachfront with coastal walks to either Kingsdown Cliffs or to Sandwich Bay.
Walmer Castle and its award winning gardens are close by. Nearby golf courses include the historic Royal St George's Golf Club in Sandwich, host to The Open Championship 2021 Neighbouring Deal, former winner of the Daily Telegraph's "High Street of the Year" award, offers a further array of amenities.
