A charming Grade II Listed house of character, in a superb location in the centre of Thaxted

Dating originally from the 15th and 16th centuries, the house was a public house at the turn of the 20th C and transformed, again, into a private house. It has not been on the market for 90 years. Original detailing throughout includes irregular oak beams to the walls and skilful craftsmanship on the ceiling beams and on English wide oak floorboards to the reception hall and brick built fireplaces.

The main reception room is the grand 23ft reception hall which has fine views of the Church. Immediately adjoining to the right are the study and office from where a door leads down to the cellar. The remaining reception rooms are approached from the inner lobby and include the sitting room with views across the side aspect, and the kitchen which has attractive painted wooden units and solid wooden worktops, a butler sink and an Aga, while beyond the kitchen there is a pleasant garden room with French doors opening onto the rear gardens.

The property has been enhanced on the first floor during the present vendors ownership and has four double bedrooms, as well a large family bathroom and a large landing/sitting area.
