A superb period country home with a converted barn, set in mature gardens and located in a rural hamlet surrounded by glorious rolling countryside.
The property: Whitcott Hall is an attractive Grade II listed, 18th century country home offering extensive and extremely flexible accommodation arranged over three floors. Home to the current vendors for just under nine years the house has been sympathetically upgraded to offer modern day comfort yet retains immense character and charm with period features throughout.
A central hallway runs from the front to the rear of the property and allows access to the elegant principal reception rooms which are all well-proportioned, light and airy rooms with exposed floorboards, feature fireplaces (two with Clearview wood burning stoves) and views over the gardens. The kitchen/breakfast room lies at the heart of the house with bespoke units and a marble island unit taking centre stage. There is an Aga range cooker creating a warm welcome and other integrated appliances include an electric oven and hob, and a dishwasher, with space for an American style fridge/freezer.
There is plenty of space for informal entertaining and family gatherings within the breakfast area which has French doors opening to the gardens. Further storage and space for appliances is available in the utility and laundry rooms. There is also a useful cloak/shower room and cellars. A light and airy Orangery/garden room completes the ground floor and benefits from far-reaching countryside views with two sets of French doors opening to both the landscaped gardens and an enclosed sheltered courtyard.
A magnificent period staircase rises to the first floor landing off which is the well-proportioned master bedroom with windows overlooking the gardens, and a contemporary en suite bathroom with fitted wardrobes and storage. There are two further characterful bedrooms and a family bathroom with separate shower. On the second floor there is a beautiful galleried landing area off which are four bedrooms all with exposed wall and ceiling timbers along with a family bathroom with elegant roll top bath and a separate shower. There is ladder access to a mezzanine with access to the attic space.
Whitcott Barn: Converted by the current owners into a superb annexe, the stone barn now offers excellent accommodation with hall, kitchen, open-plan sitting/dining room, WC to the ground floor and an impressive first floor bedroom with exposed timbers and vaulted ceiling creating a light and airy feel. There is plenty of fitted storage and a stylish en suite shower room. Whitcott Barn has most recently been used as a holiday cottage. The barn enjoys a private courtyard garden with patio.
