The Hollow is an attractive period property, once the local Smithy, and has retained character features including beamed ceilings and walls and latch doors. The property is nestled within sizable established grounds.
The ground floor accommodation comprises a dual aspect sitting room with a feature inglenook stone fireplace with wood-burning stove, space for a dining room table, and views over the front and rear garden, and a light-filled garden room (alternatively a spacious ground floor bedroom) with solid beech flooring, feature bay window and French doors leading out to the rear aspect. The kitchen/breakfast room includes Shaker-style cabinets, a stone fireplace and has external access to the paved terrace outside, ideal for al fresco dining and entertaining. A wet room completes the ground floor facilities.
On the first floor are two well-sized bedrooms, both with built-in storage and garden views.
The garden at The Hollow includes well-maintained rolling lawns and mature specimen plants. It is framed by clipped hedges and shrubs, and has a gentle stream running along the south eastern border.
A generously sized shed is located within the grounds of this property, along with a wood store hidden within the walled boundary.
Chirk, a popular border village, offers a range of day to day facilities including Chirk Station, a GP surgery, church, convenience stores and garage. For additional shopping opportunities the market towns of Oswestry and Wrexham are close by with a shopping centre, restaurants and supermarkets. The nearby A5 trunk road gives easy access to Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Chester and beyond. Local attractions include Chirk Castle and Chirk Aqueduct, while nearby Llangollen hosts the annual International Musical Eisteddfod.
There are state and independent schools in the area such as Pentre and Ysgol y Waun primary schools, Ysgol Dina Bran senior school and Moreton Hall, Oswestry and Ellemere College independent schools. Further afield are the independent schools of The King's and The Queen's Schools at Chester.
