An impressive country house with wonderful views and about 14 acres
Stoneycroft is an impressive 1930's country house set in an elevated position with outstanding views. All of the principal reception rooms take advantage of the south-facing views, looking out over the main garden. The study, drawing room, morning room and billiard room all have French windows out onto the terrace. From the entrance hall, the oak staircase leads up to the first floor with master bedroom suite. This has a walk in dressing room and en-suite bathroom, as well as a beautiful bay window taking advantage of its commanding position on the south side of the property, looking out over the gardens and surrounding countryside. There are five further bedrooms, two further bathrooms and a shower room. The self-contained staff flat is accessed separately via stairs from the courtyard at the front of the property, and comprises a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
This property has 14.88 acres of land.
Outside
The property is approached through a pillared entrance down a sweeping wooded driveway to the front of the property where there is hard standing for several cars as well as a triple garage. An elevated terrace leads off the rear of the house where the main garden lies. This is mainly laid to lawn with herbaceous borders and enjoys stunning southerly views. The paddocks lie beyond this behind mature hedging where there is also a good sized barn. The gardens and paddocks extend to approximately 14.5 acres.
Situation
Stoneycroft is situated on elevated ground on the edge of Whitchurch-on-Thames, close to the Thameside village of Pangbourne, which provides an excellent range of local facilities as well as a main line station which serves London Paddington within the hour.
The M4 (J12) is about 6 miles away and provides vehicular access to the West Country, London and its airports.
The local area is served by a first class range of schooling and recreational facilities for all requirements and the surrounding area is renowned for its walks and rides.
Directions
From Pangbourne, proceed out of the village via the Whitchurch toll bridge (20p). Entering Whitchurch-on-Thames, continue the length of the high street, passing the two Public Houses on the right. Proceed up the hill through the narrow stretch and the driveway to Stoneycroft is after about five hundred yards on the left hand side, just after the War Memorial Cross.
