Our annual Christmas card competition has been another huge success, raising over £3,000 for children’s charity UK Youth.
Over 3,000 entrants, aged between 5 and 12 years, were asked to submit their artistic interpretations of what Christmas means to them, with Strutt & Parker adopting the winning design for its 2011 Christmas card.
As always, judging the competition was not easy, but after sorting through 670 reindeers, 295 robins and 968 Christmas trees, the judges selected a striking Father Christmas design drawn by Annabel Tyser from Longridge Towers School, Northumberland.
The judges commented "Annabel's design encompassed the true spirit of Christmas. We were impressed by the use of bold colours and her excellent jolly Father Christmas design. We are certain all our clients will enjoy Annabel's delightful drawing and that it will sit proudly on their mantelpieces."
Our chosen charity UK Youth received a donation of £3,063, one pound for every entrant. This is the 9th year Strutt & Parker have held the competition in aid of UK Youth, raising over £21,000 during that time. The charity supports over three quarters of a million young people each through education programmes such as youth groups and volunteering initiatives.
Charlotte Hill, Chief Executive of UK Youth said "The donations from Strutt & Parker have enabled us to continue our programmes that have a lasting impact on the lives of young people. We have used the donations across many areas of our work such as providing bursaries for young carers, developing new qualifications and supporting young people to gain our Youth Achievement Awards."
The winner Annabel Tyser will be awarded a £50 book token and her school Longridge Towers School in Northumberland will receive £500.The six runners up will all be awarded a £25.00 book token and their designs will also be printed on the back of the card.
