Strutt & Parker launches new mobile website

Strutt & Parker has developed a new mobile website which can be viewed at m.struttandparker.com on all smartphones – iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows mobiles.

The new site enables users to search for all types of property marketed by Strutt & Parker – residential, commercial, farms and residential developments – and there is even a lifestyle search for those looking for waterfront properties, country houses or properties with swimming pools, tennis courts, equestrian, fishing and sporting facilities.

The mobile site shows photographs and full details of Strutt & Parker’s properties – in fact, all the information held on its desktop site. Users can apply the phone’s GPS to perform a radius search on their current location and to find their nearest Strutt & Parker office, and they can share property details via email and social media.

Kiersty Long, Strutt & Parker’s Head of Digital Marketing commented: "With 90% of property searches starting online and an increasing proportion of this activity happening from mobile phones, we felt strongly that our online presence needed to suit the smaller screen. So whether a buyer taps an NFC* chip on one of our smart boards, scans a QR code on a window card or ad or is simply browsing the internet on their mobile phone, they will be able to read the information they are looking for without constantly having to zoom in and out on pages designed for desktops."

As Strutt & Parker is full-service property partnership, its new mobile site also caters for those looking for property advice rather than just looking for properties. Again, the m. site holds much of the information found on the desktop site – from information on the firm’s many property services to its news and research – and users can request further information from enquiry forms on the site.

Long is surprised that many property firms have chosen to develop iPhone apps rather than mobile-optimised sites, she added: "iPhone owners only make up a third of all smartphone users in the UK, so we wanted to develop a site that enables our clients’ properties to be viewed by all potential buyers and tenants, irrespective of the device they own."

Strutt & Parker’s new mobile site was developed by multi-channel marketing agency Balloon Dog (balloondog.co.uk).

* NFC stands for Near Field Communication and operates in a similar way to contactless payments. If you have an NFC enabled phone, you simply tap your phone against an NFC chip and the information – eg details on a property – will appear on screen instantly.
