Take 5… Coastal homes under £1m

Coastal£1M

Despite the weather turning colder, it hasn’t dampened our love of the ports, villages and towns that dot our beautiful coastline. In fact, the great British seaside can be enjoyed all year round, from the buzz of crowds in the summer months, to the quiet wonders of the coastal paths during winter. The UK is arguably home to some of the very best seaside locations, with its spectacular scenery and wildlife, the piers and its cheerful candy floss charm - there is truly a place for everyone.

According to our latest Housing Futures survey, 18% of home movers said they would like to move to the coast in the next five years. In contrast, only 4% said they already lived by the sea. Working from home has become a new norm for many of us and some are making their long-cherished dreams of moving to the sea a reality. As a result, the properties that fill our coastal towns and villages have become a sweet spot in the market, which in turn has attracted some buy-to-let investors for long-term letting.

Coastal spots can sometimes be seen as seasonal, but many coastal towns are thriving through all four seasons: their restaurants, sports clubs, galleries and shops are busy year-round. As people continue to relocate, the popularity of well-known areas is reflected in their property prices, however there are still lots of up and coming places that are more affordable.

With this in mind, we’ve picked five properties by the coast for under £1m…

Crown House, Deal, Kent

Located close to Deal’s pier and a beautiful stretch of pebble beach that extends to Sandwich Bay in one direction and Kingsdown Cliffs in the other, Crown House is a charming seaside home. The town itself is picturesque, with an award-winning High Street offering a good selection of independent boutique shopping, cafés, public houses and restaurants.

Cranford, Widemouth Bay, Cornwall

Often when we think of Britain’s coastline, Cornwall stands out from the crowd for its beauty. This property doesn’t disappoint either. Set on a stretch of stunning sandy beach on the dramatic north Cornwall coast, the views are truly wonderful. If you’re a keen surfer too, this is one of the area’s top destinations.

Homefield, Cromer, Norfolk

Homefield stands in a prominent location overlooking the sea on the east side of the village of West Runton. A thriving coastal village, there’s a golf course, hotel, small supermarket and an amazing seafood restaurant.

Tan Y Ffynonon, Isle of Anglesey, Wales

Tan Y Ffynnon is close to the Welsh coast and the waters around the island are perfect for outdoor activities. Rhosneigr is favoured by wind and kite surfers, and the Anglesey Coastal Path is great for peaceful walks.

Beach House, Felixstowe, Suffolk

Beach house is positioned right on the seafront – a couple of steps to the beach for lounging, the sea for swimming and the promenade for a leisurely walk. A truly idyllic position.
