OrmistonCastle - DRONE 1

Take five | Properties that could feature in BBC’s The Traitors

OrmistonCastle - DRONE 1

As one of the nation’s favourite TV shows returns to our screens, attention turns once again to the iconic Traitor’s castle. Adorned with traditional detailing, grand reception rooms fit for plotting, the instantly recognisable turrets where the Traitors are uncloaked and of course a drawing room large enough to host the famous round table for those drama-filled debates – the castle is every bit as enthralling as the show itself.

While The Traitors castle is set in the Scottish Highlands, we’ve selected five properties currently for sale across the UK that could easily serve as the striking setting for the next series. From Brankstone Grange, which could almost be mistaken for the actual castle thanks to its immaculately refurbished interiors, to a property that comes with its own fascinating secrets, these homes all carry a touch of grandeur worthy of television.

As Annabel Blackett, prime sales Scotland and the North of England, says "There's something quite magical living somewhere with winding stairs up to a turret, and wood panelled libraries. These property features are hard to come by in newer homes, where historic architectural features aren't easily replicated. There's nothing more fun than feeling like the king or queen of your own castle - standing at the top of your turret or perusing your collection of well-thumbed tomes in your own library. Not to mention imagining the feet that have trod those flagstone floors before you. Traitors fan or not, you can see the appeal of a Traitors castle-esque abode."

So read on, step inside, and feel like you’re starring in your very own version of the show…

Brankstone Grange

Bogside, Fife

With its contemporary kitchen, dramatic reception rooms, and eight beautifully modernised bedrooms, this fully refurbished stone-built baronial mansion, designed by David Bryce of Edinburgh, could easily be swapped in as a setting for The Traitors. There are even 34 acres of gardens and grounds - complete with a walled garden where we can picture the show’s nail-biting games unfolding.

Ormiston Castle

Kirknewton, West Lothian

Also designed by David Bryce, Ormiston Castle carries all the hallmarks of a fortress fit for a game show - a sweeping driveway, turrets, and plenty of outdoor space for those out-of-earshot conversations. While the property captures the essence of The Traitors castle throughout, it’s the traditional highland-style pub, with its dark-wood bar, classic paintings, and stone walls that really creates a Traitors-like atmosphere.

Little Malvern Court

Malvern, Worcestershire

The walls of The Traitors castle may be filled with secrets and deception, but this Grade II listed country house holds its own intriguing tale. Lived in for over four centuries, Little Malvern Court exudes splendour throughout, but it’s the hall that truly steals the show - rich in character and detailing, with a medieval oak roof that is particularly noteworthy for concealing a secret chapel above the once barrelled ceiling following Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries.

Bishops Court

Clyst St. Mary, Devon

Although Bishops Court carries a certain traitorous atmosphere, with an essence of 19th-century Gothic revival design running throughout, it remains a wonderfully lived-in family house, set within 31 acres of grounds and complete with separate ancillary accommodation.

The Cubberley Estate

Ross-On Wye, Herefordshire

The Cubberley Estate may not come with turrets and stone-clad spiral staircases, but it certainly carries the same sense of drama. It’s easy to imagine the contestants wandering the grand hallways, dining at the long table, and sharing secrets in the wood-panelled library and bar. Rebuilt in 1968 and once celebrated as the ‘House of the Century’, it’s a home perfectly suited to the most talked-about TV series.
