Alchemi Group presents 55VS, a bold new development of 54 loft-style apartments encapsulating New York City style situated at 55 Victoria Street in the heart of SW1.
Conceptualised by London development experts Alchemi, in collaboration with cutting edge Stiff + Trevillion Architecture, 55VS is a striking conversion of a formerly tired 1980s office block. The building’s new façade makes a stylish statement, clad with Danish charcoal fired bricks to its beautiful bronzed balustrades.
Featuring dramatic 2.9 metre ceiling heights, floor to ceiling glazing, five metre wide window bays and generous open plan living spaces, the high-end apartments at 55VS range from large studios to spilt-level penthouse residences with 360 degree panoramic views over the capital’s skyline and some of London’s finest landmarks.
Each stylish apartment benefits from a 24-hour concierge, gymnasium, Zipcar club membership for 10 years and two communal gardens – a lushly landscaped rear courtyard and an 8th floor sky garden with expansive south-facing views out to Battersea Power Station and Southwark Cathedral.
Laura Marino, Creative Director of Alchemi Group: “As soon as we saw 55 Victoria Street, we knew that the design which suited the building best was New York loft style. The proportions were perfect for open plan living and with 2.9 metre high ceilings and 5 metre wide window bays, we knew the apartments would have that "wow" effect that comes with loft living.”
“We maintained a hands on presence and close attention to detail on every aspect of the design, collaborating closely with architects Stiff + Trevillion (S+T) and other professionals such as cutting-edge lighting design collective .PSLab (of Barbican Café fame). We also went as far as traveling to Denmark and Italy (respectively) to source and inspect the external bricks and kitchens prior to specification and also to customise many products and materials used in the development. In the end we've created a stunning specification that is wholly unique to Victoria Street.”
Inside, the interiors dare to be different. In the kitchens, quality is evident at every turn. Oak wood plank floors in a super matte finish, custom wood veneer cabinetry, bespoke bronze handles, silestone counters and hand glazed terracotta splashback tiles create an opulent feel. The generously proportioned bedrooms enjoy luxurious bespoke carpets and Italian-made wardrobes with sandblasted glass doors, while bathrooms are elegantly finished in marble and enamelled hand-finished tiling.
Combining the look of a boutique hotel with industrial edginess, the lobby of 55VS has a sense of drama with ceiling heights of seven metres, oversized feature lighting by .PS lab, exposed brickwork, bronze panels, raw woods and granite tiles.
James Puddle from Strutt & Parker, the sales agent for the development, said: “55VS is a landmark scheme which will change the face of Victoria Street and add new glamour to SW1. Victoria is undergoing a dramatic renaissance and now is a fantastic time to invest in the district, with prices set to rise in line with neighbouring St James’s and Belgravia.”
Victoria is the ultimate new address. Positioned between prestigious Buckingham Palace, the Royal Parks to the north and the iconic Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey to the east – and surrounded by the illustrious neighbourhoods of Mayfair, St James’s and Belgravia, Victoria is undergoing a £4 billion transformation and emerging as one of prime central London’s most coveted hotspots.
Currently undergoing a £4 billion rejuvenation, Victoria’s cultural explosion has seen the district evolve into an energetic hub where the worlds of fashion, art and fine dining collide. The area is already home to a rich tapestry of luxury fashion brands including Tom Ford, Burberry and Jimmy Choo and a myriad of buzzing restaurants including a flagship Jamie Oliver eatery.
Victoria has also long been one of the London’s most important and well-connected transport hubs. The underground station, five minutes’ walk from the scheme, is on the Victoria, District and Circle lines, while local and national overground services mean transport into and out of the city is well covered, including high speed links to Gatwick airport.
55VS launched at the beginning of April with a marketing suite and show home on the ground floor of the building. The remaining apartments are priced from £1.1 million for a one bedroom apartment. The development is due for completion in autumn 2015.
