Direct Table Foods, part of the Danish TiCan Group, has completed the freehold purchase of G Space 60 from Gladman Developments for £2.9m.

The acquisition of G Space 60, a 58,628 sq ft distribution unit in Saxham, represents further expansion for the bacon products manufacturer at Saxham Business Park in Bury St Edmunds, where they already occupy an adjacent industrial unit which extends to 128,000 sq ft.

Direct Table Foods first arrived at Saxham Business Park in 2006 when they moved into a purpose built 85,000 sq ft unit, and as part of a successful expansion plan extended the food manufacturing unit by a further 43,000 sq ft in 2008.  This latest freehold purchase will see the food manufacturer occupy a total of 186,000 sq ft within the park.

The company was originally established by the Stanton family trading out of the famous Smithfield meat market in central London in the 1950s, and in 1972 the company began to manufacture their own meat products.  By the 1980s Direct Table was significant bacon supplier and became one of the first manufacturers to provide pre-packed bacon to Sainsbury's.

Saxham Business Park provides a high quality and established industrial location with excellent transport links between Felixstowe and the Midlands. G Space 60 was developed alongside G Space 140, a 140,000 sq ft distribution unit which Gladman Developments sold to Wrenbridge in 2010 and is now occupied by nursery products manufacturer Dorel.  Other occupiers at the park include Norbert Dentressangle, Claas UK and TTS Tooltechnic Systems.

Tony Stanton, managing director at Direct Table Foods said: "Saxham Business Park has proved to be an immensely successful base for our expanding operations and we are extremely pleased that Gladman has been able to facilitate further expansion at the park."

Strutt & Parker and Barker Storey Matthews acted on behalf of Gladman; Direct Table Foods represented themselves.
