Companies, tradespeople and consumers will have the chance to learn more about the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) through a series of green energy roadshows throughout the spring.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change want home-owners and landlords to learn more about installing renewable heating systems in homes throughout England, Wales and Scotland.
The scheme will help out property owners who install renewable heating systems, and will be launched this spring. It marks the first time every single building in the country can take advantage of financial incentives to bring in greener heat technology to their homes.
Quarterly payments will be made to property owners over seven years to cover the costs of bringing in renewable heating systems, including biomass boilers, ground source heat pumps, solar thermal systems.
Those who make it along to the roadshows will find out all about the Green Deal the RHI, and how it could help them to have a warmer, more sustainable home.
Commercial and public building custodians will also be able to take advantage of new tariffs and technologies for the RHI. Here, not-for-profit organisations as well as commercial and public sector bodies will be able to receive payments for renewable heat system installation.
In scenarios where one boiler can serve multiple homes, financial payments can be made under "district heating" initiatives, with quarterly payments for up to 20 years for applicants.
Alexander Creed, head of resources and energy at Strutt & Parker said: “The Domestic and Commercial RHI schemes are great for supporting renewable heat generation. The Resources and Energy team is advising property owners and occupiers on these projects and would urge anyone interested in this to get in touch as whilst the returns from projects can be attractive there is a lot of detail to get correct to ensure you have a scheme that performs as you would want it to. With consultant engineers available to help clients with experience in all types of heating we are able to assist anyone looking at a project.”
