Victoria Road, near Kensington Palace, topped the list with an average price of just over £8m.

Other streets in the borough to make the list include:

• Egerton Crescent - £7,550,000
• Manresa Road - £7,359,000
• De Vere Gardens - £6,606,000
• Drayton Gardens - £5,954,000

London rules

A number of London residential streets made the list including Westminster’s Eaton Square (£6,727,000), Chester Street (£5,533,000) and Prince Consort Road (£5,281,000).

Outside of the centre, Parkside in Merton (£6,355,000) was followed by West Heath Road in Barnet (£5,199,000) and Anhalt Road, Wandsworth (£4,686,000).

The south of England dominated the top 50. Leys Road in Leatherhead (£3,677,000) was the highest ranked non-London street followed by Icklingham Road, Surrey (£3,094,000).

Poole in Dorset is the only area outside the South East to make the top 50 list.

Sandbanks Road has an average price of £2,493,000 while the region’s Western Avenue (£2,433,000) and Haig Avenue (£2,200,000) also made the list.

Northern luxury

While the top 50 was made up of homes solely in the south, the north still has a number of million pound streets.

In south Manchester, streets like Castle Hill in Macclesfield (£1,662,000), Macclesfield Road in Alderley Edge (£1,499,000), Torkington Road in Wilmslow (£1,330,000) and Goughs Lane in Knutsford (£1,299,000) all boast million pound plus homes.

Lyndon Road in Oakham, Rutland (£1,363,000), Tiddington Road in Stratford-upon-Avon (£1,349,000), Rutland Drive in Harrogate (£1,191,000) and Graham Park Road in Newcastle (£1,029,000) also show that you don’t need to go south for luxury.

Andrew Mason, Mortgages Director at Lloyds Bank, says the most expensive streets outside London are generally located away from central areas. This is because buyers are attracted by their large properties and green space.
