The DECC has published the final details of the ESOS legislation.
The lengthy document titled “Guide to ESOS” gives a broad explanation of the scheme, how to comply and who will be qualified to conduct the ESOS audits. The guide is not intended as a complete guide to conducting audits but does outline minimum standards to meet. ESOS is in response to the European Union Article 8 of the Energy Efficiency Directive.
ESOS Assessments will require participants to do three things:
1. Measure their total energy consumption.
2. Conduct energy audits to identify cost-effective energy efficiency recommendations.
3. Report upon their compliance to the Environment Agency.
