We have surveyed over 4,000 telecoms sites, to produce this review of the telecoms market, which comes at an interesting time in the industry.

Operators are seeking to make substantial savings in costs as the market for new customers has become saturated, but parts of the networks have insufficient capacity to cope with demand. The easiest point of pressure to effect savings are the rents paid to individual landlords and property owners (particularly those unrepresented). Deals between operators to share infrastructure (termed Radio Access Network (or RAN) sharing) have been announced and operators are seeking substantial rent reductions with threats to decommission sites.

These are tough times, but at Strutt & Parker we have considerable experience in this specialist market and are committed to working with our clients to overcome the challenges and capitalise on the opportunities in the months ahead.
