A spacious 4 bedroom family house set in this popular Dartmoor town
Footaway is a pretty detached 1930s built 4 bedroom family house set in the heart of its grounds. The property is well maintained and very private, having no near neighbours, yet is only half a mile from the town centre. The house and grounds are surrounded by fields and woodland.
The accommodation on the ground floor comprises an entrance porch leading into an entrance hall with the staircase to the first floor, a triple aspect sitting room with an open fireplace and sliding doors to the gardens and a dual aspect dining room. The kitchen/breakfast room has wooden fitted units, a Belfast sink, integrated appliances and a dining area. A study, conservatory with access to the gardens and a cloakroom complete this floor.
Upstairs are four bedrooms and a family bathroom, all with views over the gardens and surrounding countryside. The dual aspect master bedroom has an en suite shower room.
This property has 1.5 acres of land.
Footaway is approached, through a gated entrance, over a private gravelled drive to a parking area for several cars with access to the house and the large, double height garage. The gardens surround the house and are mainly laid to lawn, interspersed with well-established trees and pretty flowering shrubs. There are seating areas enjoying the fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and Dartmoor and a natural leat running through. A decked terrace and gravelled seating area are accessed from the sitting room and conservatory and make an ideal space for alfresco entertaining. A productive vegetable garden is found to the rear of the house with tiered gravelled paths and a trellis with climbing roses, alongside a gardeners shed. Two further sheds are used for storage and tools.
Footaway is situated just outside the ancient stannary town of Chagford, located in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. Dartmoor, with its stunning countryside, attracts many people to the area and provides a vast array of activities such as fishing, walking and cycling which are all within easy reach of the property.
Chagford offers a wide range of amenities, including churches, a part time Post Office, library, health centre and private dental practice and excellent sports facilities. There is a primary school, pre-school and Montessori. It was recently mentioned in The Times as one of the most sought after towns to live in. There is also a wide range of shops, including a butchers, baker, village store, delicatessen, ironmongers, wine merchant, art galleries and a number of boutiques, pubs and cafes.
