The subjects lie at the southern boundary of Portree adjacent to the A87 trunk road. Portree is the main town and hub on Skye and most tourists pass the LAS Centre (Isle of Skye Candle Co), adjacent to the site as they enter the town. Portree has a good range of local services and amenities, such as a swimming pool, restaurants, cafes, schools, shops, and hotels.
