Block House is a very attractive period house situated in a convenient position in the older part of the village, close to the shops and excellent facilities available in Lambourn. The house has been decorated with great style and flair throughout and the rooms are full of natural light, and spacious and well-proportioned. The reception rooms all emanate from a charming central reception hall. There is a fabulous kitchen/dining/living area, which is the central focus of the house, with a range of smart painted wooden cabinetry, and a Rayburn as well as a large gas-fired range cooker with double ovens, and a generous dining/sitting area with a stable door that opens onto the garden. The reception hall could also be used as a dining room or family room, and leads through to a delightful sitting room which in turn then opens into a study/family room. In the sitting room there is a lovely inglenook fireplace with an open fire, and there is a log burner in the study. Upstairs there are four charming double bedrooms and two smart modern family bathrooms, one with a shower and a bath.
The property is approached from the village road across a gravel driveway and there is plenty of parking space. A pretty wrought-iron gate leads through to the garden, which is mainly laid to lawn and surrounded by flower borders, mature shrubs, and a pergola. There is a secluded south-facing terrace area at the rear of the house accessed directly from the kitchen, ideal for summer entertaining. To one side of the house there is a garage and useful storage area which could potentially be used as a home office, subject to all necessary planning permissions having been granted.
Block House is situated in the middle of the village and is ideally placed to enjoy the excellent local facilities as well as the fabulous surrounding countryside which offers fantastic walking and riding opportunities. Lambourn is at the centre of the racing world in what has become known as 'The Valley of the Racehorse' and is surrounded by miles of undulating farmland and countryside. Lambourn offers a wide range of amenities including a primary school, choice of village shops, doctors' surgery, butcher, bakery and various pubs. Nearby Wantage, Hungerford and Newbury provide an extensive range of shopping and leisure facilities catering for almost all day-to-day needs. There is an excellent range of schools in the area including Lambourn, Ramsbury, Shefford, Chilton Foliat and Ashbury primary schools, Pinewood, Brockhurst and Marlston House, St John's Marlborough, Marlborough College and Downe House. Road connections are very good with easy access to the M4 and A34 linking with London and the West Country, and there are good train services from Hungerford and Newbury into London Paddington.
From Newbury follow the B4000 to Lambourn. Proceed into the village, and at the crossroads in the middle of the village by the church, turn right into Oxford Street, then take the second left turn into The Broadway. Take the next right turn into Goose Green and the entrance to the property will be found immediately on your right hand side.Read all
