Lessingham, a northeast Norfolk village only 1.5 miles from the coast and sandy beaches at Eccles and beyond. The Ingham Swan can be found about 1.5 miles to the south. The village enjoys the Star Inn public house and a small independent senior school. A number of local amenities including shops, supermarkets, healthcare and schooling can be found in the market town of Stalham just 2.5 miles away and in Wroxham and North Walsham both 10 miles away. A local bus service from Lessingham runs to both Stalham and North Walsham, whereas the nearest train station is in Wroxham with a service to Norwich and Sheringham. Gunton Station is also found on the same service which offers a number of nearby and excellent pubs including the Gunton Arms, the Suffield Arms and the Vernon Aarms. The Norfolk coast is considered to be an area of outstanding natural beauty and along with the Norfolk Broads is best known for its birdlife.
Norwich 15 miles to the to the south west is the regional centre and offers excellent cultural and business amenities and is home to some excellent private schools including Norwich School, Norwich High School or Girls, Town Close Preparatory School and Langley School. Norwich also has an international airport and mainline railway station servicing the county and London.
The Georgian market town of Holt is located 20 miles to the north west and is home to the renowned Gresham’s School. Holt also offers good local amenities and is within close proximity of the north Norfolk coast.
Directions
Leave Norwich on the Wroxham Road and continue through Hoveton onto the A149. On approaching Stalham, turn left on to Old Market Road at the Tesco supermarket signposted to Waxham Barn and Horsey Windpump. Go straight over the double roundabout onto Ingham Road. As the road doglegs at the Ingham Swan, take the junction straight on as the road bends right, signposted Lessingham. Follow this road for 0.8 miles through Ingham Corner and at the junction, take a left turn heading straight onto Lessingham. Continue until you reach a right turn signposted Hempstead and Eccles, continue around a sharp bend and the entrance to Lessingham Manor can be found after a short distance on the left hand side.
