A historic manor house with separate coach house and groom's flat

Jacobean with surviving medieval parts, the centuries are woven into its very fabric, however Jaggards is the perfect English country retreat from the modern world. Medieval, Georgian and Victorian interiors blend seamlessly with the Jacobean oak panelled drawing rooms and strapwork ceilings where elegance and charm meet functionality. Lovingly preserved and restored by the current owner over the last 25 years but previously occupied by the same family for over 200 years who were themselves directly descended from Oliver Cromwell himself. Jaggards is one of the finest homes in the county. There are numerous reception rooms on the ground floor, with a large kitchen/ breakfast room at the far west of the house. Set to the rear of the house is a wonderful Neo Gothic Bath stone conservatory which faces south and is perfect for summer entertaining. The first floor offers 6 bedrooms, family room and secondary staircase leading to the second floor, where there are 2 further bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well as a self contained flat.

This property has 2.8 acres of land.

Outside

Outside, step through the rare matching gate piers to the front and rear and find the old dovecote with its 1,000 nesting boxes or the Georgian outside privy with its classically decorated friezes. With magnificent formal gardens and ancient yew hedging, clipped lawns and a symmetrical parterre. Winding paths amongst the towering oaks, a coppiced grove of hornbeam and the formal orchard in its wisteria covered walled garden with vibrant blooms that fill the box hedged beds seasonally.

Situation

Jaggards sits on a pretty country lane located on the outskirts of the village of Neston. The historic market town of Corsham is about 2 miles away and offers all day-to-day shops and amenities. The world heritage site that is the Georgian City of Bath provides a wealth of leisure, sporting and cultural activities. Chippenham has access to junction 17 of the M4 motorway, whilst its mainline railway station provides frequent services to Bristol, Bath, Swindon, Reading and London Paddington.
