The property Milford Hall is a fine Grade II listed Georgian house standing in beautifully stocked landscaped gardens extending down to the banks of the River Severn. It stands with country views and a back drop of glorious rolling Welsh Hills, yet enjoys being close to Newtown with its good local amenities and rail station.
The house has undergone an extensive program of refurbishment. It now offers superbly presented, light and attractive accommodation combining modern day amenities while retaining its integrity and period detail. It is a house that lends itself to comfortable everyday living and larger scale entertaining with three supremely elegant reception rooms, two with classical fireplaces now fitted with wood burning stoves, deep sash windows and moulded ceilings. One also has French windows opening into a small conservatory. The kitchen has been fitted by a renowned cabinet maker and extends into a breakfast room. Further ground floor accommodation includes a cloakroom and a boot room from where there is access to the one bedroom annexe. The extensive cellar is ideal for storage and has a separate wine room.
Approached by the gracious main staircase or the back staircase off which is the linen room, there is a wide landing lit by a central sash window. On the first floor there are three double bedrooms served by two contemporary bathrooms. A further staircase leads up to a half landing off which is the fully fitted utility room and continues up to the second floor with its landing and pretty sitting area, off which are two further double bedrooms. Both bedrooms are served by spacious en suite bathrooms.
The annexe The annexe is approached through the back door and via the boot room. It consists of an entrance hall, sitting room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom and a double bedroom above. This annexe is in need of renovation and could be incorporated into the main house or alternatively could be used for office space if required.
This property has 2 acres of land.
Outside The house is approached via a shared driveway leading to electric gates which open to Milford Halls garden and grounds.
The house stands in beautiful south facing gardens with a part flagged and gravel court yard to the rear. With mature trees, sweeping lawns, stocked borders and shrubberies planted for all year colour and interest, there is also a woodland walk leading down to the banks of the River Severn before continuing round the periphery of the garden. (Fishing rights are owned by the property). In all the gardens and grounds extend to about 2 acres.
Location Milford is a small village divided from the town of Newtown by the meandering River Severn. The house stands down a shared driveway on a wooded hillside and enjoys views of the surrounding hills. Newtown has a good selection of shops, supermarkets, schools and a regular train service being on the Aberwystwth and Birmingham line with further intercity train connections from Shrewsbury and Birmingham.
The area is noted for its great beauty, wonderful walks and rides in the rolling Welsh Border country, while the historic county town of Shrewsbury is just 35 miles. Snowdonia National Park and the Cambrian Coast is also easily accessible.
Directions From Shrewsbury take the A458 to Welshpool and A483 to Newtown. Take the Newtown Bypass and at the second roundabout take the third exit signed to Newtown. On entering the 30 mile speed restriction, continue through the pedestrian traffic lights, and across the next traffic lights, continuing across the River Severn on the B4568 heading out of town. After about one mile, take the left hand turning opposite a black and white cottage into Mill Fields and immediately right down a private drive which leads down to electric gates opening to Milford Hall.Read all
