Hope Cottage is a pretty semi-detached cottage in a lovely quiet location. There is an entrance porch at the front of the house which leads you straight into the sitting room/dining room. A large exposed beam running the width of this room and there is an attractive exposed brick fireplace housing a wood burning stove. The study and kitchen are both at the back of the house and look out over the garden. The kitchen is well appointed with cream painted cabinetry and a range oven. A back door leads out and round the side of the house to the back garden and patio, which can also be accessed via French doors from the study. From the study stairs lead up to the first floor where three bedrooms and a family bathroom can be found.

Outside

The house is approached off a quiet lane onto a gravel driveway in front of the property. The gardens lie at the back of the property and are mainly laid to lawn with hedging and mature fruit trees on the boundaries providing excellent screening and privacy. There is also a detached garage to the side of the house, as well as a log store and a garden shed.

Situation

Hope Cottage can be found in a quiet lane close to the village green. The village has a public house, a church and an excellent nursery and primary school. There are also active football and cricket clubs, as well as the village hall. Train services to London are either from Basingstoke to London Waterloo (45 minutes) or Reading to London Paddington (28 minutes), with branch connections at both Mortimer and Bramley stations. There is a good range of schooling available in the area, both state and private, and the surrounding countryside is renowned for its walks and rides.

Directions

From Junction 12 of the M4, take the A4 to Newbury, turning left at the Spring Inn towards Sulhamstead. Follow this road for several miles, passing the church in Ufton Nervet, until you reach the T-junction. Turn right then take the next left signposted to Silchester. Follow this road to the end then turn left at the T-junction then immediately right. Continue straight and just before the village sign to Padworth Common turn left into Little London Road. Almost immediately turn left into School Lane and follow the lane all the way down, past the school and round the bend. Hope Cottage can be found on the left hand side.
