Immaculately-presented detached family house, set within mature landscaped gardens

Set within mature landscaped gardens and constructed of attractive brick and timber, Heywood House is an excellent family house of immense character and charm. The property offers flexible, light and stylish family accommodation that is immaculately presented throughout, with the emphasis on sophistication. It is worth noting that there is huge potential to extend, subject to planning permission.

The welcoming reception hall is centrally located, providing direct access to all ground floor rooms, including the striking sitting room, featuring a bay window with French doors opening out to the pool area and garden; a contemporary fireplace set into a feature wall provides an attractive focal point.

The generously-sized modern kitchen is well-appointed and has the advantage of a bay window with double doors leading out to the rear garden and gravelled patio area, thereby extending the dining/relaxation space during the warm summer months. The sleek kitchen, extensively fitted with grey units, granite worksurfaces and a central island with an integral breakfast bar, is well-equipped with an AGA and integrated appliances. Double doors link this room to the family room which, combined with the dining room, creates excellent entertaining space. A study is located off the reception hall, ideal for those wishing to work from home, along with a cloakroom. Adjoining the garage is a utility room and an additional cloakroom.

On the first floor, the spacious principal bedroom benefits from an en suite shower room and a good-sized balcony overlooking the pool area and garden. Two further good-sized bedrooms share access to a Jack and Jill shower room, whilst the remaining two bedrooms are serviced by a modern family bathroom.

Outside

Heywood House is set within delightful gardens and is approached via a gravelled driveway that provides ample off-road parking, in addition to the detached garage. To the rear, the garden is enclosed by mature shrubs, trees and hedging to provide a high degree of seclusion and has been designed to provide year-round visual impact. Adjoining the rear of the house is an extensive paved patio area that offers perfect space for ‘al fresco’ dining and extends around the outdoor swimming pool. Situated beyond the pool is a gravelled area providing additional seating space, with the remainder of the garden being laid to lawn.

Situation

Heywood House is situated in the desirable village of Paley Street, a semi-rural location within easy reach of Maidenhead, Marlow and Windsor, all of which offer a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities. For commuters, the property is well placed for the motorway network (M4 Junction 8/9) and rail links to London Waterloo from Windsor and to London Paddington from Maidenhead (due to benefit from Crossrail, the new high speed rail service).

Leisure and sporting facilities in the area include golf at Hawthorn Hill, Maidenhead, The Royal Berkshire, Wentworth and Sunningdale; horse racing at Windsor and Ascot; and cycling, walking and riding in the 4,800 acre Windsor Great Park. Attractions for all the family include Legoland, Windsor Castle and a number of leisure centres.

Some of the country’s top restaurants may be found in the area, including the Roux family’s Waterside Inn and Heston Blumenthal’s Hinds Head and The Fat Duck in Bray.

The region is renowned for its excellent schools, both in the private and state sectors, including Holyport College, a ‘free school’ sponsored by Eton College.

Directions

Exit the M4 at Junction 8/9 and head for central Maidenhead. At the Braywick roundabout, take the A330, signposted to Ascot. Follow this road for about 2.6 miles, passing through the village of Holyport, and turn right into Sheepcote Lane. Heywood House will be found on the left hand side.
