Outside

1 The Old Signal House is accessed via an approximate mile-long drive, which passes through the Mount Edgcumbe Estate from Cawsand. There is communal car park accessed from the drive, from where there are 82 steps which lead to the property, through woodland to the headland. The house occupies a magnificent location above the bay, and there is a paved terrace to the rear, providing a wonderful vantage point from which to enjoy the views. There is also a spiral staircase leading to a shared roof terrace, providing a magnificent spot in which to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Situation

1 The Old Signal House occupies a truly stunning, secluded location on Penlee Point, overlooking Plymouth Sound with magnificent views out to sea. The property is approximately a mile from the charming coastal villages of Cawsand and Kingsand, with their local shops, pubs, cafés and beaches. The larger village of Millbrook is also within easy reach, while the town of Torpoint provides an even greater choice of shopping, facilities and supermarkets. There is a regular ferry from Torpoint to the vibrant city of Plymouth.

Sometimes referred to as Cornwall’s ‘forgotten corner’, the Rame Peninsula is totally unspoilt with its winding lanes, small villages and pretty coves. The area is particularly attractive to those who enjoy the outdoors and includes Whitsand Bay links golf course with its challenging holes overlooking the Atlantic coastline and the nearby Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, an 800 acre area of coastal woodland and open hillsides.

The property enjoys excellent communication links: the A38 Devon Expressway gives access to major towns and to the national motorway network, whilst Exeter Airport and Cornwall Airport Newquay offer a number of flights to domestic and international destinations.

Directions

Use the postcode PL10 1PJ in a satellite navigation system to find Penlee Lodge; a tall white building at The Triangle, Cawsand. Opposite Penlee Lodge there is a road marked 'no entry' for motor vehicles except for access. Follow this single track road for just over a mile. Go past two left hand turnings and go through a gate marked 'Authorised vehicles only'. After just over a mile, past three speed bumps and a few bends, you will arrive at an outhouse/garage on the right. The communal car park is entered just before this and the house is approached on foot via downward steps.
