The Old Vicarage is a most elegant early Georgian property, listed Grade II, which has been tastefully decorated and sensitively refurbished to a high specification. There are brick elevations in Flemish bond under a clay tiled roof. A portico with front door opens to the hall with a fine marble fireplace, a dentilled cornice and a graceful staircase. The accommodation flows well to the principal reception rooms through heavy panelled doors.
The library has a beautiful Versailles style panelled oak floor, large windows with shutters, a fireplace and fitted book shelves by Chamber Furniture. The drawing room faces south and detailing includes the central pillars, Versailles style floor, and fireplace. Adjacent is the study with shelves and cabinets in walnut, also by Chamber Furniture. The dining room has a lovely view of the garden and leads to the kitchen/breakfast room with Chamber Furniture joinery. There is a large marble covered island unit with induction hob, oven and sink with extractor over and extensive storage in the well-designed cupboards and cabinets. Beyond lie the utility room with twin gas boilers, a wine store, boot room and dog room, with back door to the walled garden.
The luxurious master suite comprises a large bedroom, marble fitted bathroom with separate shower and dressing room fitted with cupboards and shelves. There are four further first floor bedrooms sharing a shower room and bathroom. Stairs climb to the second floor which has recently been converted to additional accommodation, with light from six dormer windows. The sitting room has doors to the cinema room and music room. Separated by a glazed screen with door is a further room suitable as a bedroom or hobby room.
This property has 1.2 acres of land.
The property is approached from a private road through impressive electric wrought iron gates. The gravel drive sweeps to the house with a large lawned turning circle with sun dial. The appearance of the house is enhanced with neat box hedging.
The main gardens are at the rear with a large lawn bordered by some wonderful mature trees and shrubs giving privacy and great colour to the house's outlook. There is a terrace with more box hedging, and steps lead to a less formal area of wild garden under the trees. A walled garden at the side of the house has a raised purpose-built koi pond with filtration system and fountain. There is a double garage.
The Old Vicarage lies in a secluded setting a little to the south of Boxley village green and church. Boxley village is most picturesque, being set at the foot of the North Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Village facilities include the church and the village inn, the Kings Arms.
The county town of Maidstone offers a wide range of educational, recreational and shopping facilities; Bluewater is 18 miles distant. The village is well placed for transport communications with the M20 and M2 within easy reach. Rail services to London from Maidstone take from 62 minutes., and from Ebbsfleet 19 minutes to St Pancras, or 13 minutes to Stratford.
From the M20 leave at Junction 7 and follow signs to Maidstone. At the Chiltern Hundreds roundabout take the second turn to Penenden Heath. At the mini roundabout turn right to Boxley. On entering the village take the first right turn into a private road. The entrance gates to the house are on the left after about 100 metres.Read all
