A charming village house with delightful garden in a peaceful setting close to Hungerford

Valuably unlisted and dating from 1769 The Old Post is a delightful house which is presented to a very high standard throughout, whilst still maintaining its original character. It is a well-designed, family home with superb accommodation and a feeling of light and space perfect for family living. Of particular note is a large kitchen/breakfast room overlooking the generous sweeping lawn. The house has versatile accommodation including an outbuilding that has been converted for use as overflow accommodation.

Outside

At the front of the property there is a blockpaved driveway and a detached double garage, providing parking space for several vehicles as well as storage space in the garage. The property has a large rear West-facing garden with an open aspect over the ‘Inkpen Crocus Fields’. There is a large terrace perfect for al fresco dining. The garden encompasses mature trees, vegetable garden and wildlife pond. There is also an outbuilding with fully functioning kitchenette, sitting/media room and living quarters and a double garage.

Situation

The Old Post is situated in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the extremely popular and sought after village of Inkpen. The popular and attractive village of Kintbury is a short distance away, and provides excellent local amenities, including a post office and village store, a butcher, baker, doctor’s surgery, primary school, and a mainline station. Kintbury and nearby Hungerford are surrounded by stunning countryside, and superb walking, cycling and riding routes can be found right on the doorstep. Newbury provides most other day-to day amenities, including shopping, leisure and recreational facilities. Road and rail connections are excellent, with direct train services into London Paddington from Kintbury or Newbury, and easy access to the M4 and A34 providing fast links to London, Heathrow Airport and the West Country. There is a wide choice of highly regarded schools in the area including Inkpen primary school in the village, Horris Hill, Cheam, Downe House, Bradfield College and Marlborough College.

Directions

From Newbury, take the A4 towards Kintbury. Turn Left towards Kintbury, go over the railway crossing and canal bridge until you reach the village centre. At this point, turn left towards Inkpen and carry on up Blandys Hill for approximately one mile until you reach a crossroads with a cemetery on your left. Turn right here and continue for one mile where you will find The Old Post on the right hand side just past the playing field.
