In recent years, pumpkin patches have become a popular day out for families across the UK.

These venues come into their own as Halloween approaches, with people flocking to their local patch to pick their own. While pumpkin carving is of course top of the agenda for many families, autumnal pumpkin recipes – from soups and stews to sweet treats – are also incredibly popular for those who’d prefer to eat their pickings!

As the activity’s grown in popularity, many of these patches have expanded their offering and now have everything from corn mazes to ‘fright nights’.

Whether you’re looking to get in the autumnal spirit or entertain your little ones, we’ve selected our five favourite pumpkin patches across the UK - as well as five homes for sale within easy reach.

Colwood Park

Tulleys Farm, West Sussex

Perhaps one of the most well-known pumpkin patches in the UK is Tulleys Farm. Described as ‘the UK’s number one pumpkin festival’, the 100-acre Tulleys Farm grows over a million pumpkins each year – so you’re guaranteed to find the perfect one. Alongside the pumpkin patch, there’s also its notorious Shocktober Fest’

Just a 25 minute drive away, you’ll find Colwood Park - a stunning country house on the edge of the village of Bolney. The seven-bedroom home is full of period features, from wooden parquet flooring to cast stone windows, but it’s been comprehensively renovated and upgraded by the current owners to add a more contemporary twist.

Secretts of Milford, Surrey

In the neighbouring county of Surrey, another great pumpkin patch can be found at Secretts of Milford, with their famous pumpkin week which caters for the whole family.  

You can reach Secretts within a 20-minute drive of The Gallery, a beautiful four-bedroom barn conversion, located close to the popular village of Chiddingfold.

Oddington Hill House

The Cotswold Farm Park, Gloucestershire

The Cotswold Farm Park is another fabulous spot to pick your own pumpkin, and they also offer pumpkin carving, face painting, a corn maze, and a restaurant to enjoy autumnal treats – dogs are welcome too!

At Oddington Hill House you can beat the crowds who flock from all over to visit The Cotswold Farm Park. Just 15 minutes from the farm, this five-bedroom home is set in almost 20 acres of land and can be found within the heart of the north Cotswolds.

Stuckendroin Estate, Dunbartshire

Arnprior Farm, Stirling

Arnprior Farm hosts Scotland’s original pumpkin festival, known for its family friendly atmosphere and of course the scenic backdrop.  Alongside the pumpkin patch, there’s face painting, a pop-up shop, bouncy castle and endless photo opportunities.

Arnprior Farm isn’t far from Loch Lomond and just north of here you’ll find Stuckendroin Farm, nestled on the shores of this magnificent loch. Extending to approximately 3,611 acres, this amenity estate is located in one of Scotland’s most accessible and attractive areas.

Sandle Lodge

The Picking Patch, Hampshire

The Picking Patch, Fordingbridge , Hampshire couldn’t be much further geographically from Arnprior Farm, but it’s an equally fabulous pumpkin picking spot. Alongside hosting several spooky events this Halloween, The Picking Patch is also open for pick your own pumpkin, marshmallow toasting and hot chocolates.

Just a 10 minute drive away is Sandle Lodge, a glorious six-bedroom Georgian home sitting in 10 acres of gardens. The house has been sympathetically renovated by the current owners and would make a fabulous home to display your pumpkins.
