Reasons to move to Petersfield

Located in a privileged position right on the edge of the South Downs National Park, Petersfield is a gem of a place to live.

The ancient market town has long held importance thanks to being a vital stopping off point between the port city of Portsmouth and the metropolis of London. While it’s no longer a place defined by trade and commerce, Petersfield is still a hub of activity. The gorgeous town square usually has something fun going on, whether it’s a market, live music, or an arts festival. The town is also full of charming attractions like the Physic Garden, and the beautiful St Peter’s Church, which harks back to Norman times. And, in terms of socialising, there are few better towns in the surrounding area: there are plenty of delightful restaurants, cute cafés, and well established pubs to enjoy a few hours in.

Petersfield is somewhat of a hub for surrounding towns and villages, and has important amenities like supermarkets, petrol stations, and high street shopping. For other needs, Southampton and Portsmouth are both short drives away, and easily reached by A roads. There’s also a local train station with regular services to London and Portsmouth.

The surrounding countryside is one of Petersfield’s biggest draws. It’s a popular base for hiking and biking holidays, and the greenery that envelops the town is criss-crossed by well maintained paths. There are also lots of nearby sites to visit like Goodwood House and Alice Holt Forest.

Housing in Petersfield is aimed mostly at families and older residents, who are looking for a slice of the country life without sacrificing the buzz of a busy town. There are detached family homes, smaller terraces, and quaint cottages for sale, most of which come with much sought after green space.

If this all sounds like it could be your dream town, then our estate agents covering Petersfield Hampshire are here to help turn that wish into a reality.
