Reasons to move to Lyndhurst

It doesn’t get more idyllic than the charming village of Lyndhurst. Located right in the heart of New Forest National Park, this settlement was once designated a royal hunting ground by William the Conqueror, and it continues to enchant people to this day.

Lyndhurst is home to a thriving community that benefits from buzzing pubs, chic wine bars, and plenty of independent local stores stocking everything you might need and more. The village also has a famous literary connection, as it is home to the final resting place of Alice Liddell, Lewis Carroll’s inspiration for Alice in Wonderland.

For such a small settlement Lyndhurst is thriving, but that’s also because of the attractions that lie just outside its boundaries. The surrounding forest is full of gorgeous walks and views, and if you do go exploring there’s a big chance you’ll end up spending time with one of the famous New Forest ponies!

A car is vital to make the most of Lyndhurst, as there is no real public transport around. However, it is well connected to both Bournemouth and Southampton by road, which means you can enjoy city benefits alongside all the delights of more secluded living.

Lyndhurst is excellent for raising children thanks to the incredible surroundings, and because it falls into a school district with a good range of excellent schools. Families here have access to so many wonderful educational, cultural, and natural highlights that they are truly spoiled for choice.

Housing stock is not too varied in Lyndhurst, but there is some diversity. Most homes available here are cottages, bungalows, and farm houses, although there are some larger new family homes to move into, as well as flats and smaller living arrangements for singletons or couples.

If you’re ready to experience the joys of the New Forest and get cracking with Lyndhurst living, then reach out to our local Strutt & Parker office now.
