Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a key aspect of most large scale development projects and remains an integral part of our planning system. Ever evolving legislation and case law continues to make EIA a key area for those wishing to challenge planning decisions, so it is an important part of Planning to get right.

We manage this complex process by adopting an informed, rigorous and methodical approach, borne out of extensive experience of the screening, scoping and assessment phases of EIA. Our Planning consultancy background, coupled with our commercial awareness, means our EIA team is perfectly placed to provide sensible advice that ensures a viable and implementable planning permission.

The 2014 EIA Directive dictates that, as of May 2017, EIAs must be completed by persons who, by virtue of their qualifi cations or experience, are competent experts. In this respect, Strutt & Parker has planners with practical experience in preparing EIAs, and are qualified Practitioner members of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (PIEMA). Our EIA experts provide a comprehensive project management service, taking responsibility for all aspects of a development project from inception and team assembly, through to determination. Advice can also be given on the changes in implementing the European Directive into domestic legislation in England, particularly in respect of screening and scoping processes.
