Take 5… Homes with perfect gardens for Spring

It’s official - spring has sprung. The season brings with it sunnier weather, longer days and, more importantly, plenty of chocolate eggs. With Easter late in the calendar this year, many gardens are starting to get back to full bloom with an abundance of tulips, daffodils and blossom filled trees and new wildlife is appearing. All this sense of newness in the garden provides the perfect setting for an Easter party full of our favourite traditions, including the all-important Easter egg hunt, kicking off the season for enjoying the outdoors.

Gardens mean something different to us all because no one’s outdoor space is the same but it is all about making the most of the space you have. If you’re lucky enough to already have a garden set up, it is always a good idea to give it a tidy up early in the season. This means decluttering your flower borders of those unwanted weeds and dead leaves and cutting the lawn for the first time after a spell of dry weather. It’s easy to add a splash of colour, hanging baskets full of spring flowers such as pansies and primroses can offer just that while for those with more floor space; tubs, pots and old Belfast sinks are perfect planters for spring blooms.

Once your garden is starting to look a little more polished, you’ll be keen to show it off by entertaining al fresco. With sunnier days on the horizon, outdoor dining will be making its annual comeback. Already many of us have begun blurring the lines between outside and inside to extend our living spaces as a result of the pandemic. BBQs, pizza ovens, or even a cocktail bars, are great ways of bringing your culinary and mixology skills into the garden. Oh, and don’t forget about the important garden furniture for your guests to relax and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Well thought out and maintained outdoor spaces can add value to your home so getting it right can be an investment for the future.
