Equestrian properties are some of the country’s most sought-after homes from rolling country estates to a few acres of land and a stable. Purchasing an equestrian property can be the investment of a lifetime and living with your horse on your doorstep can be a wonderful experience whether you are a seasoned competitor or someone who enjoys quiet hacks over countryside.

Once you have decided to purchase your equestrian home, a few things need to be taken into consideration. As with all property purchases, the right location is important. Not only does it need to be located somewhere that has large tracts of land, but if you want to visit competitions, you will need easy access to the motorway network so you can travel quickly and easily. Local riding routes should be within touching distance of your property so you can take your horses out for hacks without having to spend too much time on the roads.

Facilities are also an important consideration – the ideal property would have a yard within sight of the main house. There should be ample space to store your kit and appropriately sized stables facing away from the wind with access to electricity and water. A horse walker or an indoor school might be a nice feature to have but is not a must.
